Treatment Services

Imagine Recovery treatment in New Orleans includes many diverse possibilities for therapy. Making the committed decision to leave addiction behind, our clients will participate in their own individual plans for treatment. The possibilities may be difficult to discern, but after detoxification is complete and therapy begins, clients can begin to process change with new hope for a sober future. Initial decisions will match the results of the assessment and evaluation to the foundational terms of the treatment plan.

  • Detox is closely monitored by medical professionals who are experienced in the changes that occur when the body and mind are withdrawing from a substance. This is an extremely dangerous initial stage of addiction treatment because of the physical effects that drugs and alcohol have had on the major organs and the brain.
  • Inpatient rehab is another option when deciding on addiction treatment in New Orleans. Inpatient rehab reflects the choice to reside in our facility after completion of detoxification. Under the direct control of a professional staff of physicians and mental health professionals, self exploration begins. Various forms of therapy are included with inpatient rehab. Living inpatient includes abiding with the rules and protocols of the facility. Structured living helps develop healthy and positive sober living habits.
  • Outpatient treatment may occur after the initial detoxification and inpatient rehab. Outpatient addiction treatment in New Orleans can be an effective and manageable form of therapy. Unlike inpatient rehab, outpatient treatment allows clients to live at home and arrive at a daytime treatment program at the facility. Outpatient treatment options work well for those experiencing a less severe addiction diagnosis.

With both inpatient and outpatient treatment options; individual therapy, medication-assisted therapy and group therapy are utilized in treatment plans. Other types of therapy may be chosen depending upon the individual diagnosis. Transitioning into a sober living facility may follow addiction treatment in New Orleans as a supportive step after rehab. As the individual journey progresses and obstacles need to be addressed, additional therapy options may be used to meet new challenges.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy builds a trusting relationship between the client and the therapist. Finding a match that is acceptable for both parties is the goal to ensure open and honest communication. In addiction therapy, the goal is to delve into past traumas, experiences, family history and beliefs and thoughts the person has held true throughout their past. It is important to address all issues that may have caused them to reach out for drugs or alcohol to ease their pain.

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment, also known as MAT, can also be used in conjunction with individual therapy to ease symptoms that could interfere with the open and honest communication needed to focus on in therapy. Addiction treatment in New Orleans begins with a detoxification process, but severe symptoms can persist after detox. Symptoms such as avoidance behaviors, depression, anxiety, and physical symptoms from long-time drug or alcohol usage can be alleviated through medication.

Group Therapy and Family Supportive Services

Group therapy and family supportive services are invaluable when treating addiction in New Orleans. Psychoeducational groups can provide essential educational insights concerning addiction and mental illness. Skills development groups offer healthy and positive lifestyle skills to maintain sober living. Cognitive behavioral groups address relearning behaviors, identifying triggers and changing reactive behaviors in a new sober world. Support for the client and the family in a group setting builds a sense of empathy, encourages accountability and allows for using new communication skills to express emotions and feelings.

How Therapy Can Aid in New Orleans Addiction Treatment

Mastering communication skills while in addiction treatment in New Orleans aids in recovery. Learning how to open up to communicate, take down walls and to speak in an effective manner offers hope for a sober future. Listening skills are developed to understand more clearly what others are communicating. Dropping defensive mannerisms to change negative behavioral habits is helpful in learning to listen. This is a foundation for a lifestyle habit of communicating effectively for work, lifestyle and relationships.

Learning how to establish boundaries with addiction treatment in New Orleans, sets up our clients for success in sobriety. Learning how to reinforce the positive choices, healthy coping mechanisms and to rely on sober relationships by setting boundaries in all aspects of life is a valuable tool. Boundary work involves individual therapy work with the personal therapist. Discussing setting boundaries in group and family therapies sets up a strong foundation for the client to communicate the intention of a sober lifestyle.

Learning and incorporating healthy coping skills is another benefit of addiction treatment in New Orleans. People with addiction learn that addictive behaviors are often established as the result of a stressor in life. They did not possess the education needed for establishing a healthy and positive coping mechanism so the choice was alcohol or drugs to alleviate discomforts of the stressor. Learning how to identify possible stressors or “triggers” is a benefit of obtaining healthy coping skills for a sober future. Behavior changes are the result of a thorough cognitive behavioral therapy program.

About Imagine Recovery

  • To the wonderful people of Imagine,

Someone wise once told me that we should live our lives in a way that, when we pass, the most important words spoken about you will be “They made a difference.

In the game of addiction, hope is hard to come by, the pain swallows people whole and the wounds can turn into an unimaginable cancer. If one can muster up enough strength and conviction, recovery is possible. But still, the process has to include the contrasting element to addiction, connection.

At Imagine, Felicia, you’ve devoted your life to be a healer. You have provided the pace for connection – that is a crucial element in having a chance at conquering addiction. The wonderful staff are all as equally important as you are. Thank you all for your compassion. It is a breath of fresh air!

I know I speak on behalf of many people when I say… Imagine is making a difference in this world!

    Thank you.

  • When I came through the doors of Imagine last year, I looked and felt like the “before” photo in a pet adoption advertisement: Sick, scared, confused, and probably not smelling all that great. I didn’t know exactly what I needed, only that I wanted a better life, a healthier, happier one. Soon after, I became Imagine Client #1. No pressure, right? After ten weeks of IOP and eight weeks of outpatient treatment, I felt as though I’d been born again. It’s not hard to see why Imagine has chosen a phoenix as its spirit animal and logo, a legendary mythical creature that is continuously born anew from its own ashes. And that’s precisely how I feel today, rebuilt from the charred remains of an unhealthy and fearful life, a new and better man, husband, brother, son, and (at least I hope) member of the human race. For the first time in a long time, I have peace, health, and hope, which are no small things. I am, and will always be, eternally grateful for those gifts.

  • I will NEVER forget you and Chris taking my hand and walking me through the hardest time in my life. Your words gave me hope when I needed it the most. I make 6 months this week!!”

I can’t say enough how much Imagine has impacted my life. Being in a new city, I felt lucky and grateful that a place like Imagine was a familiarity and sort-of home base in my life for the first couple months – and I know it will always be there for me moving forward. It has not only helped me build a strong community and confidence as I start this new chapter of my life, but it also has given me tools to continue to succeed in whatever life throws at me.

  • Felicia & Chris,

We are beyond grateful for what you have done for our son and our family. You caught a soul before he fell too far and redirected the course of his life. What we are learning about epigenetics is that you have not only impacted our son, but also his future children and their children. You are deeply impacting this world. You are both such inspirations to all those that are fortunate enough to know you.

    I’M SO GRATEFUL
    Hi everybody,
To everyone in the Imagine Family, I wanted to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. This truly was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. I promise to come back every now and again because I don’t want to lose touch with the people that changed my life for the better.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you and with love,

  • I was sitting outside, enjoying the breeze, watching the trees sway and admiring the beautiful colors. For me, that is a stillness I was once uncomfortable being in. I must admit, I did not think I needed IOP at Imagine after completing a 30-day inpatient program. In fact, I felt I knew all the cliché sayings, read the material, had it thrown at me from every direction, and I would not gain anything from attending IOP post-inpatient treatment. Oh how wrong I was! While attending group meetings and one-on-ones, I gained so much insight, compassion and confidence. I learned to fully forgive, both myself and others. I am more patient when I used to be reactionary. The shell of a person I once considered myself is now humbly strong. And guess what – I like me. I could not have made these leaps without the guidance and suggestions I received at Imagine. I am beyond grateful to have y’all as part of my journey. Thank you so much for everything you do and everything you’ve allowed me to gain through your program.

    Much Love Ladies 🙂
